The Journey

I am excited and honored by this vote of confidence from the American Psychiatric Association membership!

First, I wish to express my gratitude for your support during my tenure as an Assembly Officer, and as Past Speaker of the APA Assembly. We have successfully achieved the goals we developed as a group.

As a proud member of the American Psychiatric Association for over three decades, I have served in a multitude of positions both at the District Branch and National Levels.  My journey began as a New Jersey Resident Chapter Representative. Shortly thereafter, I served as the ECP Committee Chair in the Assembly Executive Committee.  I continued my contributions at the District Branch level, holding progressively challenging officer positions, moving upward through the ranks from Treasurer, Vice President, Senior Vice President, President-Elect, and ultimately President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association.

During those early years, it became evident to me that the APA fulfills a critical mission as an effective patient advocate and as the voice of our members. It is a mission that continues to guide my clinical, teaching, and advocacy work. Most importantly, I remain committed to advancing the scope of influence of our organization in any way possible.  Rest assured that I have the enthusiasm and energy to continue serving our members and our patients. I am confident that as an organization we will continue to forge a path to the betterment of our profession in the years to come.
